Especially for those coming to Norwich to join us:

First and foremost, let us welcome you to our Indonesian family here in Norwich. Your decision to enroll in UEA will enrich our diversity and strengthen our bonds even further.

We enjoy the comfort of being a small family of approximately 15 Indonesian students (of different levels: Undergraduate, Master, and PhD, and family), plus some other Indonesians who are no longer students, as well as a multitude of friends of other nationalities that enjoy Indonesian culture and support and encourage our time here. Our family here is recognised by the wider network of PPI UK (Association of Indonesian Students in UK) that covers all of the Indonesian students throught the whole of UK.

We were at one time or another in the same boat as you were, being new Indonesian students in Norwich. Thus we realize that entering a new environment and adjusting to it can be somewhat of a challenge. Therefore, we kindly offer to help with your adjustment to the British culture in general and to Norwich in particular. We would do this by; corresponding with you before you arrive in Norwich, picking you up at the Norwich Airport (or local train or bus stations) when you arrive, as well as giving you an informal orientation of the things that Norwich has to offer. This will of course include how you would be able to get your hands on the “essentials” of every Indonesian student everywhere; i.e. indomie, kecap ABC, which rice to buy that tastes somewhat like home, etc. and also show you some other places of interest in Norwich while you settle down in this Fine City that you’ll be calling home for the next year or more. Once here, informally and sporadically, we often get together for simple meals, as well as playing Badminton in UEA's well-known Sportspark (which will be used in the 2012 Olympics).
